Interpreter and Translation Services
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. All federal agencies that provide grants of assistance are required to enforce Title VI. The law provides that no person in the United States shall, on the ground(s) of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
Institutions, government agencies, businesses, and organizations that receive federal funding must prioritize language access through interpreter and translation services. These essential services break down linguistic barriers, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to fully engage with and benefit services provided by the City of Columbus. By embracing language inclusivity, we will foster an environment where everyone feels valued and included.
